Gross Profit by Prescription

The Gross Profit by Prescription report provides overall prescription totals and gross profit information for each prescription that was filled during the report period. It also provides gross profit information for new and refill prescriptions.

This report DOES NOT include pre-authorized prescriptions. The report only includes prescriptions with a status of either Complete or Amend that have a fill date that falls within the report period. Pre-authorized prescriptions are included once they are authorized and will appear on the report for the date the prescription was filled (not the date it was authorized).

Non-retail prescriptions with the following group Rx statuses are included in the report:

  • A - Active Regular Dose
  • D - Daily (for Monthly NH Only)
  • I - Inactivate Regular
  • O - Active Non-Drug
  • W - Active PRN Dose
  • X - Active External

The report can be generated for all prescriptions filled during a period, or it can be generated for prescriptions filled for patients in a specific group.

  • When a group is selected in the report criteria, the name of the group will be shown near the top of the report.
  • The report can also be generated for a custom class, an intervention code (e.g. to find prescriptions billed with specific intervention code), or third party (e.g. to obtain a list of all prescriptions submitted to the third party).
  • Use the Extended criteria tab to select the drug name to print on the report.
  • The Extended criteria option called Generics Only allows the report to be generated for prescriptions filled for generic drugs. Generic drugs are flagged in the database according to the manufacturer code (i.e. APX is a generic manufacturer, therefore all APX drugs are considered generics). This option defaults to OFF. When selected, the indicator 'Generic Drugs Only' appears at the top of the report.
  • The Extended criteria option below “Prescription Type” called “PrescribeIT®” allows the report to be generated for prescriptions filled using PrescribeIT®. Select the “PrescribeIT®” flag to generate this report only for PrescribeIT® prescriptions. See Viewing PrescribeIT® Reports to learn more.

  • Fee for Service prescriptions, including Refusal to Fill prescriptions in British Columbia, are included in the report because 100% profit is obtained from these types of prescriptions. The costs and markup will be $0.00 for Fee for Service prescriptions.
  • The available sort options are Rx#, Billing Code, Fill Date and Patient Name.
